With Omega Point destroyed, Juliette doesn’t know if the rebels, her friends, or even Adam are alive. But that won’t keep her from trying to take down The Reestablishment once and for all. Now she must rely on Warner, the handsome commander of Sector 45. The one person she never thought she could trust. The same person who saved her life. He promises to help Juliette master her powers and save their dying world . . . but that’s not all he wants with her.
By far, this series is my favorite. It’s the only series that I actually followed along and anticipate the release of every book. And Tahereh Mafi is my one ultimate favorite author in the dystopian genre—Nickolas Sparks in the first on Romance so that’s even—and, while reading the book, it’s evident that she had tried too hard to get all the feels into it, and give it that sort of misty kind of atmosphere.
The cover of the book is intriguing, it’s actually what first brought me to this trilogy. The eye thing has always lured me in, and it’s fascinating how the eye on every book represent the way Juliette is feeling, like giving you an idea what you’re about to read.
Ex: Shatter Me had a river running down her eyes and broken leafless trees, it showed how much broken the world is and how left out and depressed, and isolated Juliette is from the entire universe. Unravel Me is frozen, everything is ice cold and no more tears in there. It might be a sign to the fact that she’s kind of shocked of all the thing she’s discovering about herself and others, and that at the end her body just stopped (?).
However, Ignite Me’s cover has a lot of elements to it. First of all, there’s no ice or broken trees or tears. There’re this green and blue and orange explosion in the back, and the eye has trees and blossoming flowers and butterflies. It means that The Reestablishment would be defeated and the world would finally find it peace. It can also mean that Juliette had blossomed into this strong woman who can protect herself and find her place in the world.
Now the title alone is something else. It gives an indication of a Warner/Juliette since it was Warner’s tattoo—I stick to that—and it can also mean that Juliette is ignited and strong enough to face the world and take down The Reestablishment.
I was so excited to have my hands on this book, but kind of sad it’s the final one. I finished reading it in four days, although I tried to be slower on that because…I wasn’t ready to let it go yet. Can you blame me? I mean, it has all the feelings to it, I could feel everything and the emotions kept on overflowing.
The way the plot has enclosed itself was a bit disappointing somehow. Not too much, it was expectant more or less. Like we all knew what gonna happen in the end, but it kind of felt like there was a rush in the scene. And there wasn’t a lot of action like you’d expect. I guess the second book has the most interesting plot since it was where Juliette first discovered herself, and how she developed her relationship with everyone.
The last book might have been more focused on her relationship with both Adam and Warner? I find romance is much more doubled in this book. Like, okay guys we get you’re in love but you’ve got to cut it out cause you’re about to fight? And, it might just be me, but I hate when everything goes super easily after discovering something as terrible or shocking as what Warner did. First, his mother died, and he cried—I cried—and he was sad all right, but then he was all drooling over Juliette. And when he discovered he was brothers with Adam and James, I figured lots of things gonna happen. Like…okay, it’s acceptable that he had handled it so pretty well. He was in a moment all silent and thoughtful, but then only a minute later he was like okay bro, let’s bond. Let’s forget that we once thought of killing each other. I expected him to be secluded, like cower a bit or never show his feelings, not so directly and hastily as that since he was always strong and cold. I guess Warner started to lose that solid character once he got along with Juliette.
As for Adam, man how much I wanted to reach my hand inside the book and slap him back to his sense. He talks, and I'm like:
He was being so overly dramatic. He was so mad over something that was already done, and I totally hated him more than I actually did before. I wasn’t fond of him in the first two books, really. And now, in the final book I really hated him for being so ridiculously mad. Kenji should’ve knocked him in the head for going around screaming and creating a chaos when it was so pointless for the situation they were in.
I think, Kenji deserves a book of his own. His character is so adoring and funny, he was one of the reasons I’m reading through this book. His character is the highlight of the entire book. And it feels like he had lots to tell from his part, he went through a lot too, and he was so strong to stand up against everything and still want to fight against that establishment. He’s my favorite character, even before Warner. When he talks, I'm...
Kenji is the best!
The entire plot is amazing, but the downfall is the lack of action and the intense focus on romance—but then again, almost all Young Adult books focus on that genre—and it kind of expectant. Like, is she even sure she can lead the world? She’s only 17, and she could hardly control herself—although she kind of did at the end, pretty amazingly. And should she really have a man by her side, can’t she be independent—I do adore Warner and Juliette, but it’d be better if she was like strong and alone. I’m just not really fond of the idea of her leading the world because she’s so young. It’ll be best if it was Warner since he has an experience and he’s a freaking Commander. Or perhaps Kenji since he’s older, and wiser—kind of—and he knew stuff she didn’t. Castle is completely out of the question since he hardly got out of a trauma, he’s so sensitive to take up such position.
I love the Shatter Me trilogy, it’s one of my favorite books and I’ll surely miss it.
Enjoy your day, and be weird
bye.
